Ehsan Kamrani

 

Iranian born Dr. Ehsan Kamrani is an experienced biomedical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in both academia and industry. He is currently an Assistant and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Harvard University, and CTO/CEO/Co-Founder of Pharmasees and of Stealth Startup.

He was also CEO and Co-Founder of Talymus Inc. from Oct. 2018 to Nov. 2019.

Dr. Kamrani is also an experienced researcher with a demonstrated history of working in higher education Biomedical Engineering, the medical device industry and AI-enabled Wearable/Implantable Healthcare Technology.

Dr. Kamrani’s research interests cover several areas of wearable/implantable wireless biomedical circuits and systems, including wireless theranostic bio-optoelectronics, wireless power transfer, on-chip theranostic systems, photomedicine, and monitoring/treatment of ocular-neurovascular disorders.

His goal is to develop technologies using photons and nanotechnology to probe life sciences, visualize health, and treat diseases. Taking multidisciplinary approaches, his research spans a wide spectrum from satisfying the intellectual curiosity to solving real-world problems.

Ehsan Kamrani received his B.S. in Bioengineering and biomedical engineering from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, a M.S. from Tarbiat Modares University in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Polytechnique Montreal, Canada, in 2014.

He was a Research Assistant with the Polystim Neurotechnologies Laboratory, Montreal, from 2009 to 2014, and appointed as a Visiting Scholar with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T), Cambridge, MA, USA, and a Research Assistant with the Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA, from 2012 to 2014. He was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow and Visiting Scholar with the Biomedical Nanomaterials Laboratory, POSTECH, Pohang, Korea, in 2014.

Since 2014, Dr. Kamrani has been with Harvard-MIT Health Science and Technology and the Wellman Center for Photo medicine, Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, where he is involved in an active bio-optics project for developing novel innovative technologies by integration of photonics and biological system aiming at developing a novel diagnostic optical instrument for medical applications.

He is a member of Technical Committee of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society on Wearable Biomedical Sensors and Systems, and a member of IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society, the Institute of Physics, the Optical Society of America, and the International Society for Optics and Photonics.

Dr. Kamrani has been a recipient of 15 prestigious scientific awards, including the Best Paper Awards from CFSC’03, ACFAS’12, MIOMD’12, and the 2013 Polytechnique Research & Innovation.

Dr. Kamrani is fluent in English, Persian and has professional working proficiency in French, limited working proficiency in Arabic and Spanish and elementary proficiency in Korean.
