Unveiling of Iconic Cyrus The Great Statue in Atlanta
Cyrus the Great, also known as Cyrus II or Cyrus the Elder, was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian Empire. He ruled from 559 BC to 530 BC and his reign is considered one of the most important in ancient history.
Cyrus the Great is considered the greatest King of all time. He is the earliest proponent of human rights and, throughout his large empire, instituted a policy of religious tolerance. His wise policies have been emulated by rulers, statesmen, and philosophers till the present day.
In honor of Cyrus the Great Day, a monumental statue of Cyrus the Great was unveiled at the Millennium Gate Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, dedicated to liberty, justice and peace.
The park surrounding the statue of Cyrus the Great will also be dedicated as Nimruz Park in honor of Iranian people and our cause for freedom. This park will celebrate and honor champions of human rights from around the world, especially those advocating for a free, democratic, and secular Iran. Nimruz, in Persian, means “midday,” the point at which the sun is at its peak and shines most brightly.
