عطار یکی از نمادهای فرهنگی پارسی گویان است؛ او که سیمرغ را بازآفرید و یکه تازی خردمندانه او را به هم‌گراییِ هم‌صدایانه رسانید؛ او که شهرهای عشق را هفت‌گانه آفرید، چشم خِرَدش به یورش خون‌بار غُزها گشوده شد و با یورش خون‌بار مغول‌ها بسته. عطار عارفی خودساخته بود که زندگی اش چون حلقه ای زنجیره درخشان شعر و ادبیات عرفانی فارسی را به هم پیوند می‌دهد؛ ۵ ساله بود که حکیم سنایی درگذشت و آن گاه که خودش چشم از جهان فروبست، مولوی ۱۴ ساله بود. در برنامه این ماه انجمن، آقای دکتر رهنی گزارشی از پژوهش خود درباره عطار ارائه خواهند داد. در بخش دوم برنامه، همچون گذشته، شعر شاعران هم زبان را خواهیم شنید. اگر شاعر هستید و تمایل دارید شعر خود را در برنامه های ما بخوانید، لطفن با من تماس بگیرید.

Attar of Nishapur: Submerged in Intuition

Attar is one of the icons in Persian culture. He reinvented the Simurgh concept and morphed the solo symbol of wisdom and bravery into a pluralistic representation of unity and collective wisdom. He traversed through the Seven Valleys of Love, even though his 7-year-old eye captured nothing but the brutal, bloody violence of the Oghuz Turks. Attar lived between two horrific invasions and his prolific life ended by the Mongols who inflicted an even further immeasurable pain on Persian poetry by burning his books of poetry after the massacre. But Attar bequeathed a treasurer of love to us and generations to come.

Attar’s life was a link in the chain of Persian mystic poetry tradition that connected Sanai to Rumi. He was only 5 years old when Sanai died and at the time of Attar’s execution, Rumi was 14 years old.

This month, Dr. Max Rahi will share a report of his research on Attar with us and then we will open the floor to the local Persian poets. Developed and presented by the Los Angeles Public Library, this program is part of the Persian Poetry Forum of Los Angeles series. Your attendance is welcome and free.
