“Aging clock”

Brain

In a remarkable breakthrough, researchers have built an “aging clock” that reveals how old brain cells truly are not by years, but by their gene activity. Using this powerful tool, scientists identified hundreds of compounds capable of reversing the molecular signs of aging in neurons. When tested on older mice, several of these chemicals actually rejuvenated brain function, improving memory and reducing anxiety.
Even more impressively, the treated brain cells began to resemble those of much younger animals at the genetic level, confirming that the effects were real and deep. Though still in early stages, this discovery opens new possibilities for slowing or even reversing brain aging, offering hope against memory loss and neurodegenerative diseases.
