THE ISTGAH ORCHESTRA

Performing the classic folk song “DOKHTAR-E BOYER-AHMADI” from a historic house in Tehran, exclusively for Farhang Performances.

Dokhtar-e Boyer Ahmadi” originates from the Kohgiluyeh And Boyer-Ahmad province of Iran, and it is a song that is familiar to most Iranians, it was perhaps best popularized by the magical voice of the legendary Iranian opera and folk singer Pari Zanganeh. This romantic and nostalgic song has also been performed by other great Iranian artists, including the great Monir Vakili.

The Istgah Orchestra has rearranged the attractive melody of Dokhtar-e Boyer-Ahmadi in this special performance. We dedicate this song to all the lovers of our beautiful Iran.

About The Istgah Orchestra

The Istgah Orchestra was founded in 2010 by Mahdi Norouzi in Tehran. Mahdi Norouzi is a graduate of the prestigious Tehran Conservatory of Music and has extensive experience as a lecturer in the music department of Tehran. He is also experienced in composing, arranging, and performing.

The Istgah Orchestra has significantly grown and developed over the last ten years with various collaborations with national and international music legends such as Naser Cheshmazar and Richard Clayderman just to name a few. The concert series with maestro Naser Cheshmazar included eighty musicians and was known as “The Nostalgia Concert” series. These concerts were held with the participation of guest vocalists such as Ashkan Khatibi. The Istgah Orchestra has also performed in such critically acclaimed hit musicals as Mary Poppins and The Corpse Bride. Today the Istgah Orchestra Group consists of more than 150 members, including Iranian and international singers, musicians, and composers.

In 2017, the Istgah Choir was established with 45 members that have performed repertoires from famous classical music pieces such as the works of Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn. The choir has been honored to collaborate with international organizations such as the United Nations in delivering the message of peace and friendship to the world through art and music. Istgah is recognized as one of the most dynamic artistic groups collaborating with the United Nations in Tehran, accompanied by the ambassadors of peace and friendship through several concerts and festivals in line with the goals of the U.N. The Orchestra’s project celebrating the International Day of Peace in collaboration with musicians from more than twenty countries turned into a great cultural event on an international level.

Currently, the Orchestra is planning their next European tour titled “The Women of Shahnameh” which they hope will take place post the current worldwide pandemic with a goal to introduce Iranian culture internationally.

Istgah has been striving to globalize Iranian music, recover Iran’s prestige in the music world, and fulfill the need for a professional team in this regard. The orchestra believes that music is a universal language amongst nations and it can help bring us all closer globally.
