The documentaries present : Nessa and Shahrzad’s Tale. 

In collaboration with ROSVÂA, this weekend we present The Never Ending Dance, featuring two films : Nessa and Shahrzad’s Tale. 

The documentaries present resilient, independent women whose situations may be viewed as opposites: Shahrzaad’s battle is seen through the trajectory of her life, from once being a famous figure to having nothing, while, conversely, Nessa’s battle is an attempt to rise from nothing to become an artist.

Nessa is a young woman from Kermanshah (Kurdish city in west of Iran) who is challenging to progress in her acting and artistic career. Nessa’s family prevents her from reaching her goal because of the conservative environment. The film in the cinema vérité style follows Nessa in her battle with her brother, father and colleagues.

Shahrzaad’s Tale is a story of a lost era and a forgotten star of pre-revolutionary Iranian cinema. Shahrzaad is the pseudonym of early 60s popular Iranian actor, also a published writer/poet and Iran’s first woman filmmaker. She saw her fortunes plummet dramatically after the Revolution of 1979. Today after more than 30 years of being out of work, in her late sixties, Shahrzaad is a wandering homeless.
