Three Documentaries by Journalist Reza Sayah

This weekend, we open August with three documentaries by Reza Sayah. 

Reza Sayah is a Tehran-based journalist and documentary film maker. For the past 20 years, he has worked as a correspondent for various international news networks such as CNN, Al Jazeera, France 24 and PBS NewsHour. He has reported on many news events worldwide, including presidential elections in Iran, the Egyptian revolution aftermath and conflicts in Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and Ukraine.

He is also the co-founder of Ravian Films, a production company in Tehran that specialises in documentaries, broadcast news reports and video storytelling.

2018

Comeback is the story of the Iranian National Polo team’s return to the international scene. Iran is the birthplace of polo but soon after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the sport all but disappeared in Iran. Comeback documents the history of polo in Iran, its near demise, and eventually Iran’s return to the international scene.

With the Master is a short documentary on the life of Ali Akbar Sadeghi, one of Iran’s leading surrealists.

Involuntary Perfection traces the journey of an Iranian man who uses the guiding principles of two ancient crafts to overcome the wounds of a broken family and discover the secret to achieving perfection.
