“Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illness.”
Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire has created more than 6,000 life-changing wish experiences for children battling critical illnesses.
Make-A-Wish® is a non-profit organization that has been changing lives in Southern California and across the globe since 1980. Each year, Make-A-Wish and its thousands of volunteers work hard to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Make-A-Wish Mission statement
The impact of a wish is powerful and gives the child a new hope and strength to keep moving forward with their medical treatments and procedures.
Collectively, the Make-A-Wish chapters in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, and the Inland Empire have granted more than 20,000 wishes. Eligibility for a wish experience extends to any child between the ages of 2½ and 18 who has been diagnosed with a critical illness.
There is a lot that goes into the granting of a wish. After Make-A-Wish discovers the child’s most heartfelt wish, all hands are on deck to help create the best wish experience. Wishes would not be made possible without the generous support of the community. Financial donations of course always help, but there are other ways to help too. Sometimes a donation of space is necessary when a child is presented their wish or there is a need for volunteers to help create the reality of a wish.
Make-A-Wish is dedicated to granting wishes for every eligible child in Southern California—but cannot do it alone. Community support is critical to ensure that no child has to wait for their wish due to lack of funding.
There are a variety of ways to help Make-A-Wish grant wishes:
- Donate! Make a one-time or monthly donation.
- Volunteer! Help make a child’s wish come true by being involved in the action of it all!
- Give Airline Miles! Donate extra airline miles to help send a wish child to their dream destination.
- Fundraise! Help Make-A-Wish help you fundraise with an event at school, work, or anywhere in the community.
