The highly-anticipated film “Parvaneh” will be open to the public on February 12th, 7 PM at the Regal Sherman Oaks Theater.
This new film was directed by Joseph Hovsepian, who is well known for his award-winning past
Joseph is known for beautiful, compelling stories that shed light on difficult issues of freedom of speech, persecution, and human rights.
“Parvaneh,” which is the Persian word for “butterfly”, tells the story of a young dancer who gracefully carries her
wounds and burdens, holding them close as she dances on a path that she trusts God to lay before her.
To her, dancing is thought in the form of movement – to improvise as she goes along rather than to follow a calculated
plan. With each step, she grows wiser and entangles herself further with a tantalizing, textured world that never
ceases to morph around her. Embracing change as it comes, Parvaneh lives a metaphoric story of transformation
that will ignite your imagination.
“Parvaneh” is already an award-winning film, having won Best Cinematography at the International Motion
Picture Awards, as well as being selected for several other film festivals.

About the director Joseph Hovsepian
Joseph Hovsepian born in 1973 in Iran, started his journey as a cameraman and editor at the age of 15 in the country of Iran. After a few years of full-time involvement in the Audio-Visual department of a non-profit organization, he found his interest and challenge in cinema and story-telling. After his father’s (Rev. Haik Hovsepian) martyrdom in 1994 in Iran, he focused his films on freedom of speech and human rights themes. Joseph studied Film & Cinema at Guildford Art School in England and since 2000 when he moves to the united states CA he formed “JFA productions” and started working full-time producing and directing.
Today, JFA is a mid-size production company, offering full video services while continuing to produce films, documentaries, and more. Joseph is well-known for his award-winning documentary “A Cry From Iran” released in select theatres as well as featured on Amazon Prime. His latest short film “We Will Win” was created in support of the “Women’s Life Freedom” revolution in Iran and has been viewed by millions around the world.
