Winning Iranian Mural Designed By Rashin Kheiriyeh
LOS ANGELES, CA – July 27, 2021, Farhang Foundation is proud to announce the official unveiling of its third winning mural design as part of its Iranian Mural Design Competition in collaboration with Beautify Earth. The competition invited artists to submit design concepts that conceptualize different and unique aspects of Iranian culture. The finalist designs would then be installed as public murals throughout Los Angeles and Southern California as part of the beautification of the region with Iranian art.
The latest winning design is by award-winning illustrator, author, animator, and painter Rashin Kheiriyeh, who took inspiration from the poetry of Rumi in creating her beautiful and poetic work.
“We are thrilled to once again unveil a stunning and permanent public mural in the City of Angels, and to continue in the beautification of Southern California with Iranian art,” said Farhang Foundation’s Executive Director, Alireza Ardekani. We are so proud of Rashin Kheiriyeh for this magnificent design, and are grateful to our long-running partnership with Beautify Earth.”
“This past year has been a challenging time for everyone, and it’s my hope that my mural will bring comfort and joy to the public, and bring their attention to the Iranian art and Persian literature,” said Rashin Kheiriyeh. “Every molecule in my body is buzzing with excitement about participating in this project. It feels wonderful to see my artwork up on a public wall that will be seen by over 100,000 passersby on a daily basis.”
Kheiriyeh’s mural is now installed at 3325 Pico Boulevard, in the city of Santa Monica, at the intersection of interstate 10’s exit off ramp.
Special thanks to the entire team at Beautify Earth, especially to artist Trek Thunder Kelly, responsible for installing the mural and translating Rashin’s design on a large-scale wall meticulously.
