LAFC, LAFC SPORTS FOUNDATION AND UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX PARTNER WITH ACCESS BOOKS TO DONATE 2,000 BOOKS TO STONER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Donation Funded Through LAFC’s Black & Gold Community Relief Fund; Club Partner University of Phoenix To Donate An Additional 500 Books

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), together with the LAFC Sports Foundation and University of Phoenix, through the Black and Gold Community Relief Fund, are partnering with Access Books to donate 2,000 reading books to Stoner Elementary School on Wednesday, August 5.

Books will be distributed to approximately 500 students in a drive-through format at the Stoner Elementary School campus. Each student will receive three new high-quality books, specific to their learning level, plus LAFC promo items including stickers, tote bags and hats. Additionally, Club partner University of Phoenix, will be providing each student with a copy of their self-published book, The Dragon Who Learned to Fly. Social distancing and mandated health guidelines will be observed.

The effort is in partnership with Access Books, a local non-profit that provides quality books to public school and community libraries where the majority of students live at or below the poverty line. Since 1999, with the help of volunteers, the organization has refurbished over 300 libraries and donated 1.8 million books. In response to school closures caused by the pandemic and to uplift Los Angeles’ most vulnerable girls and boys, Access Books has distributed one-hundred thousand books to underserved public schools, communities and foster care centers.
